Over the past four decades, working alongside some of the brightest and best in the industry, we have meticulously mastered the time-honored techniques and craftsmanship of authentic Alterations Tailoring.
Our approach is rooted in a full menu of traditional, European hand-sewing techniques for suits and other tailored clothing, in tandem with modern machine-finishes for today's microfiber knits and performance-stretch fabrics.
As a classic alterations shop, we pride ourselves in providing our clients with an unmatched level of service. Feel confident shopping online or out-of-town for your wardrobe needs, as Hutchinson Island's premier alterations provider will rise to the occasion, personalizing the fit. Reimagine your old favorites, too: we will help breathe new life into your tried-and-true pieces so that you can realize the longevity in your clothing investments.
What's in a name?
We chose "Chalk Stripe Tailoring" in honor of that classic striped suit made for generations by the skilled hands of the old masters. A tailor's chalk is an important tool used daily: it's careful markings upon cloth help to plan and guide the tailor's work. In some form or fashion, through recession and depression, war and pandemic, feast or famine, the chalk stripe suit -- and the skills with which such a marvelous garment is made -- has persevered, or "stood the test of time." It is for our own hope to power-on and persevere, inspired by the simple elegance of things tried and true, that Chalk Stripe Tailoring bears its name.
When you visit Chalk Stripe Tailors, we hope you will experience the perfect marriage of "off-the-rack convenience with the satisfaction of a bespoke fit." We want you to love getting dressed, have confidence in your wardrobe, and feel your best wearing it.

We are committed to Sustainable Fashion: While not a novel concept, "fixing what ya got" is certainly growing in popularity. But some may recall, back in the day, this was just a normal part of "home economics." Clothes were designed and sold with the expectation that they'd be let out when snug, mended when worn, handed down when the circumstances presented, and donated when we no longer had use for them. As a 3rd generation tailor from a large family, I learned from an early age that altering or restyling thrifted and "hand-me-down" clothes was a wonderful way to create a fashionable wardrobe. My immense gratitude for the gift of my trade is rooted in such positive, family-centered and practical experiences.
